Head cold season is no fun!! You know those annoying symptoms of congestion, runny nose, and sneezing. They tend to take over in the winter and ultimately lead to spreading crankiness throughout the household! I can’t promise to make your head cold disappear, but I can help to elevate your senses in the aid of congestion issues with a simple home life hack of fresh Eucalyptus in your shower.
You only need 2 items to make this home remedy happen – fresh eucalyptus and string. Literally for the string you can use dental floss, twine, or leftover birthday ribbon! Bundle up the branches, tie a knot, and hang them from behind your shower faucet. Make sure the branches are not hanging in the direct stream of water!!!!! It’s important the water is not running on the branches during the shower because the goal of this is to have the steam of the hot water release the natural oils in the eucalyptus! The essential oils in this plant help open your nasal passages and may aid in helping you breathe easier. I always love doing this during the coldest months of winter because it brings a sense of calmness, it looks pretty hanging in the shower, and it does make us feel better on not so healthy days. We have four people showering in this house daily, and my branches will last about 10 days at a clip. I always pick my branches up from Trader Joe’s because they usually have them in fresh weekly. Check with your local grocery store or florist my fingers are crossed they have them near you too!!! 🙂
